To Beat Stress, Call it by its name!!

Stress is not a name of an emotion. And yet we use it all the time... and our emotions are getting lonely because of it

To Beat Stress, Call it by its name!! One of the best coping strategies in working with trauma, fear, anger, and repressed emotions is to label your emotion and speak its name. Your demons become smaller when you recognize and face them. By saying "I feel scared of driving on the freeway," and breathing, you're bringing your fear to the surface to allow your body to process this fear and let it go... then take action. Without speaking fear's name, you don't recognize it, and it builds up and doesn't allow you to get to the fear to process and release it. Stress has unique situation. People call it Stress, but we never call it by its real name (anger, anxious, fear). It becomes some blanket statement to describe how you're feeling, "Stressed", but the ACTUAL emotion hides and gets stronger against you. Best practices are to label your stress (I feel angry things aren't getting done, I feel anxious I won't make my deadline-- these statments will quell your emotions and stress can subside. ) But just saying, "I'm Stressed", and your toxic emotions smile and grow, and make life more difficult to overcome. So say its name, admit who your up against (fear, anger and anxiousness) and shrink them back to a manageable size... And Breathe...
